Why USB 2.0? |
The Host Controller Interface specification for USB 2.0 supports two bus speeds - the Full Speed which supports a theoretical data transfer speeds up to 12 Mbits/sec and the High Speed which brings a better theoretical speed of 480 Mbits/sec.
To get a "High Speed" behavior, both your device and computer must support "USB 2.0 high speed", through the "Ech1" standard.
Connect the device to the USB port of your computer. In Window XP, open the Device Manager, switch to "Devices by Connection" view, and see whether your device is hooked to an EHCI (high speed USB 2.0) controller. If it's not, then it is hooked to an USB 1.1 function controller, which only supports data transfer at full speed (12 Mbits/sec) For MP3 players with large capacities, the USB 2.0 High Speed is recommended. The USB 2.0 speeds up to transfer of data which can be rather long and slow with USB 1.1. |

|
When your device is hooked to an EHCI controller then it can run at an operating speed of 480 Mbit/sec. |
|
When your device is hooked to Full Speed controller (OHCI or UHCI), then it can only support a transmission rate of up to 12 Mbit/sec. |

Built-in Card Reader |
| Most MP3 players use built-in memory, others use memory cards to provide storage, and some use both. Memory cards are available in different types, but most popular MP3 players supports Secure Digital (SD) and MultiMedia Cards (MMC). Because of their small formats, they are more suitable for MP3 players which are equally compact and small. |
| |
| Even if your MP3 player already provides a total of 4GB/5GB storage capacity, the advantage of SD/MMC cards is that they can be used in other portable devices. Aside from being able to hold thousand of songs for hundred of hours of music experience, you can also swap or transfer files among your MP3 player, PDA, and digital camera that support these cards. For digital camera users, they can easily backup the data or pictures from the SD/MMC card to the MP3 player and reuse the SD/MMC card for taking more pictures. |
 |
 |
| You can purchase a memory card for additional storage space of the MP3 player when the price of SD/MMC card drops. |
