City of Industry, CA – December 2, 2005 – MSI Computer Corp., a subsidiary of Micro-Star International Co., Ltd ( MSI ) of Taiwan , is proud to announce today the launch of its new line of motherboard, K8N Diamond Plus, which is based on NVIDIA®'s newly released nForce™ 4 SLI X16 chipset and it is designed to provide the highest performance and the most scalable chipset solution for the latest AMD ® Athlon™ 64 X2 dual core and Athlon™ 64 FX processors. The new nForce 4 SLI X16 is the latest variant of the nForce 4 chipset series to hit the market, offering full speed SLI – that is, two full bandwidth 16 lane PCI Express graphics slots instead of the regular 8 lane slots which computer users had to sacrifice if they wanted to use SLI . With the increased bandwidth, the K8N Diamond Plus redefines the standard for blistering graphics and all-time high speed system performance.
MSI 's new K8N Diamond Plus motherboard is designed by utilizing the latest technology. In addition to the increased bandwidth, the K8N Diamond Plus is integrated with Creative Lab's Sound Blaster® Audigy® SE audio, which delivers stunning 24-bit multi-channel playback. With both of these in a single motherboard, c omputer users can now experience mind-blowing gameplay with brilliant and intensive 3D graphics and unsurpassed power and audio clarity in gaming.
On top of its excellent performance and sound quality, the K8N Diamond Plus has also enhanced its overclocking performance, promising enthusiasts the best controls over their motherboards. Besides, users will not have to worry about system instability, because the K8N Diamond Plus has a unique heatpipe thermal design on the chipset which brings high performance graphics on light structure to ensure the best thermal efficiency while in SLI mode. The K8N Diamond Plus also features an improved design where the PCI-e x16 slots are placed wider apart to provide space for larger VGA coolers. This new layout allows for greater performance of the VGA cards.
Expansion slots for the K8N Diamond Plus are available for dual PCI-e x16 and x1, one PCI-e x2 and two PCI v2.3 slots (including a Communication Slot). The K8N diamond Plus also supports four Serial ATA 3 GB/s ports, enabling higher data transfer rates and system performance - the integrated Serial ATA controller supports RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5 for good performance, good fault tolerance and high capacity and storage efficiency. If users want Hi-Speed USB support, the K8N Diamond Plus offers 8 USB 2.0 ports for connections to external hard drives, CD-RW's, video cameras and like devices. That's not all. The integrated two Gigabit LAN ports provide faster networking access and it represents the perfect choice for those who want superior performance for rugged and demanding applications in image processing, multimedia and telecommunications.
The new K8N Diamond Plus is not complete without MSI 's unique CoreCell technology. Dynamic Overclocking Technology (D.O.T) has been integrated as one of CoreCell's components. With the improved D.O.T. 3, users can monitor voltage and temperature properties, perform overclocking and set the parameters for smart fan functionality. Live Update 3 is another useful application for users to download and update the latest version of BIOS and driver automatically, which saves users much time in searching the whole website to find the system BIOS and drivers they want.
