Question  How do I update the BIOS?!?
Type  VGA
Keyword  BIOS, BIOS Flash, AMI, Award
Answer  We are now using FLASH memory for all of our mainboards. With this change, you can use the software version of flash programming utility to program the BIOS into a FLASH memory; you do not need an EPROM programmer machine to program BIOS in an EPROM anymore. The FLASH utility is available in our BBS, WEB and FTP site. The filename is:
AMIFL634.COM For AMI(R) BIOS
AWDFL535.EXE For AWARD(R) BIOS
Once you have downloaded BIOS from us, it is usually compressed into a self-extracting file. The file contains the following:
BIOS file
FLASH utility
FLASH programming notes
BIOS release note
You do not need to download the FLASH utility separately. However, when you are upgrading the BIOS, please be sure to read the FLASH.DOC before programming. Do not upgrade the BIOS when memory manager, such as HIMEM.SYS(R) EMM386.EXE(R), QEMM(R), etc., is active. We suggest users to keep their current BIOS unless they feel it is absolutely necessary to perform the upgrade and you have the technical expertise to do so.
